Perhaps the best thing to do would be to allow a certain number of traits (say 30) so we don’t end up with uber cats from sanctuary. Just a thought.
Okay…going to keep this positive, but truthful!!!…
FIRST of all…this, in no way, will kill the market. It’s not like you can go buy 40 of them and mass produce in a few weeks time!! Yes a few have TONS of points….reason being: we breed good cats, sell for reasonable market prices (not open bid and 500L) Rather than sell a cat for 50L to 500L we sanc them to avoid killing the market!!! THUS accumulate sanc points. I thought it was a clever and creative idea. Whether these cats come to be or not, there will STILL be the chosen ones who will kill the market with their ridiculous pricing. SOOOOO let those who work hard and try to do what’s right for the market have some fun with something new and creative. I hardly think a few designer cats will do as much damage as some of our fellow breeders already have. And, with that being said, (hoping it was positive feedback), I will close. AND I LOVE THE DESIGNER CAT IDEA!!! Some will never be happy lol

I loved the idea just the way it was! This will in no way effect the secondary market in the negative. I can tell you that we have saved our sanc points for a LONG LONG time and if you think the offspring offspring would be sold for cheap you are sorely WRONG (IF I even decide to sell any lol). I love the idea of spending more sanc points to get a higher level sanc cat…it’s a risk because that cat could still only throw you 4s or 5s. As far as leaving some traits as natural goes…now its not a designer cat is it? Its not like every single trait will pass…when does that ever happen. I love the whole idea just the way it was presented to us yesterday, thought it was planned well to look out for small breeders as well as large breeders and everyone in between. Just go with it as planned.
im kind of iffy on this. I like the idea of making your own but can also see alot of downfalls. people work hard for their lvls and if im only at say a lvl 26 tiger i can just go make a lvl 30 and it can pass lvl 31’s takes the fun out of breeding and just throws people way ahead of others and i work hard to get certain traits and now someone can just request them for 200k or more in points why would they buy from other breeders when they can just get a sanc cat with snaggletooth or bent tail or glow eyes, while in theory its a cool idea it can hurt the market for breeders as well
The conversation that went on this early morning in many ways was exaggerated, I also agree that the build your own cat WILL NOT BREAK the market in anyway, its build on traits that are already within the market. There was comments like “there goes the sabertooth” this statement alone makes no sense when you can already get a sabertooth for points.
Not trying to be negative, just realistic in saying the restrictions where very clear to me this morning when reading the blog on the build a cat idea. I do understand how the level system could be in question and “one of a kind” traits I would hope stayed that way as well. Basically it is a way to build a theme cat and I have had this conversation with many, white tigers look amazing in a pretty winter scene or a panther in a dark jungle scene.
If the build a cat becomes to limited it wont be worth the value of the point which are not easy to get by any means of doing so. if someone can pump their account full of Lindens to buy even the cheapest sacks (adding to the building of the market of course) well let them pay out that kind of money then. Personally I breed out my cats which takes what roughly 3 months.
For the breeders design build if that’s the way it goes, I would suggest a drawing of names to decide on the breeder, add a fishbowl type at the main store, people can put there names in there to be drawn at a given time. Or maybe even for breeders that attend the class get their names entered into the drawing to design a cat.
***I personally really had thought the next Sanctuary Cat to be an Uber Cat of some kind for maybe 400K in points instead of the usual 200K for a sanctuary, that just my personal opinion on what I would have liked to see.***
I myself love the idea, personally i would like to see no fur level upgrades on these though. it would be great that they were made as more of a trophy cat rather than a sanctuary cat. maybe nix the fur levels let them build how ever you want but make them so they are not breedable this way people wont worry about the small chance there would be to pass a high lvl fur. even though as stated in the blog the parents would be low lvl sanc parents as always and for those who have tried to pass sanc traits yeah its not easy. I think people have to realize that not everyone’s intention is to destroy the market. As stated here there are many breeders out there that dont even sell their cats breeding is strictly a hobby. I would like to see a sanc leopard though with um maybe electric onyx eyes ( hey i had to squeeze that in there) and maybe the customs be more of a trophy non breedable dream cat thing. thank you for the time it took to read my thoughts and happy breeding everyone.
A leopard will be a long time out as the market for them needs to build a bit but will keep the what is it onyx eye an option.

I really don’t understand the logic… Is Wk Breedables or Build a Bear?… confused….
Just a small suggestion… In terms of a new LE perhaps have a chance at bringing back some of the old traits for example the Remember eye… Believe eye… The Cowardly .. How this would work (again an idea.. don’t kill me) Save up 450- 500k in Sanctuary points to bring out the cat you choose. Keeping in mind the OOAK shall remain so.
First, I am deeply troubled by the fact that comments on this thread are being censored. If our opinion is asked, I’d like to think that WK would let everyone’s voice be heard.
That being said, here’s my 2 cents on the build your cat issue.
I’ve been in WK almost since the very beginning. I am a trait breeder. I have a few higher level cats but it’s the traits that catch my attention. I suffer in sales because of this. People DO come to me when looking for specific traits though, so the ability to design your own cat would drastically effect my market.
If you want to have your own dream cat without working for it, perhaps the designer cats should be available as pets. Thus they do not play into the secondary market unless someone wants to sell their pets.
The last time I looked, WK was for breeding not a ‘build a bear’ operation. WK is the only one that wins with this proposition. You want a specific cat? BREED IT! If they are only using traits that have been ‘discovered’ then the traits are available, if you look hard enough. This is how the secondary market flourishes.

I generally love the idea but i have some worryings as well.. am thinking… if i can order for example lvl 30 white Bengal or Leopard , wonky hybrid eyes , prehistoric teeth , bent tail etc etc all what is rarest – so what for iam spending time and money breeding those hybrid eyes and low level Bengals and having tons of cats – if we can order what I can ? I could sanctuary all i have and get a few i dream about 😛
And .. 200 k points for lowest version with lvl 5 ? i think that should cost much more points – coz we all knows many ppl sells sacks for 50-100 ls … so collecting 200 k points is not a problem. Imo minimum should be 500 k points then people would respect value more 🙂 Just my worryings and thoughts.
Imo WK could design some new special eyes ( maybe ..electric candy pink ( so many loved Birthday Pink ):)) – iam serious- i would love electric pink ), teeth, furs , other traits to choose from.. instead of using existing traits for this Special Sanctuary Cat :>
I read all coments. I agtree with the fur raising on santuary cats is a trouble, now say that 200K points on santuary points is not problem, ITS NOT TRUE!!. I breed wk about 2 years and just now reached finaly 200K points my first time. I’m not those who can throw hundret dolars on sl from RL. I dont spend on boosters, because I would pretend someday be able get a cat form Santuary. Finaly now when I think that I can, comes some one and say that get 200K points is easy? OH PLEASE!!!!
All depends how many cats You have – if U have many that is not a problem to collect 200k ,,,
Is just sad seeing Sanctuary Cats which costs 200 k point set up for sale with rlly low prices- these should be special cats… Think about this
yes I agree, but spéaking of need more then 200K points to get a cat, tell me, how will be the small breeders? If the points go higer, better, never give points to small breeders, you will create hopes for nothing, once we never will be able to get any cats form sanctuary. I got 2 years fo collect 200K points, I know breeders still smaler then me, they then will need 3-4 years? to get only one? Is it far? Actually is easy fix it, the sanctuary cats should be no transfer, what mean they wont be sold or given away!!!

I love my wkcats but wish they also bring new WK Dogs to be mix with the Wolfs and Like the Leopards. That be a lot of fun too I enjoy having this pets. That be awsome with new traits
So, since the designer cat is out, what can we expect to see on the new sanc cat? I am really hoping it is something NEW & exciting. Meaning some scale, maybe even a new scale & some new packed traits. I’m loving the idea that the new sanc cat’s fur will pass too!
A late addition to this old topic. After reading the posts and hearing various things in group chats… I think the idea of a Build Your Own Cat “BYOC” was generally accepted and loved. What seemed to cause an issue was the Level, and possible effects on the secondary market, which appears to be a mixed bag of opinions. Since SL is a game, and Breeding is a type of game within a game, then maybe the best approach should be more game-like. Here is my two cents.
All traits that can be picked cannot be anything that is normally unlocked higher than Level 20. (Level 20 Trait Cap across all species) Exclude Leopard species for the first 18 months. Assign an SPV cost to each trait within each category; Ears, Eyes, Whiskers, Teeth, Fur, Scale, Tail. Allow the person to pick Species for free, but also make an SPV cost based upon Breed chosen. One pick for Species & Breed. Three picks for each of the traits. Since the premise is based on Sanctuary Points, maybe something can be setup on the Dashboard for the picking of traits using a drop down menu, which is linked to Trait tables with pre-assigned SPV costs. Once the person has made their picks, and they click submit. The traits are randomly picked from their three choices in each category. A total SPV cost is calculated, checked against their balance, and if all is good then the cat is generated and sent to them In-world. Regarding level I would just make it standard like most of the Limited Edition cats Level 5, and make the parents random Level 3-5. And continue with only one cat generation per month per user. An example of a Selection List follows below and using this mock-example the cat cost would be anywhere from 55000 to 120000 depending on what was randomly generated. 🙂

I loved this idea of each trait hasthe own points. So even the smaller breeders can get some santuary cats, being between 55.000 to even if its 200.000 points, its a great thing. I got 2 years to get about 200.000 points, with this proposal I could have gotten a cat before already, and the cat can even be no transfer. I would love if we could do it this way. 55.000 points its easier to get, even if it mean less traits, but allow us, the smaller breeders, to get something too.
